Take a moment and look at your body. I don’t mean a quick glance in the mirror to check your hair. I mean really look at it. This body is your temple. It is the only home you will ever truly own, the palace where your spirit resides. But let me ask you a question: how are you maintaining that palace? Are you building your walls with gold and fine cedar, or are you trying to hold it all together with trash and scrap metal?
Most of us are walking around in "fixer-uppers," wondering why the roof is leaking and the foundation is crumbling. We wonder why we are tired, why our joints ache, and why our minds feel like they are stuck in a fog. I want you to live life to the fullest. I want you to thrive, not just survive. But to do that, you have to go back to the original blueprint. You have to go back to the Garden.
The Original Blueprint: Genesis 1:29
When a master architect builds a masterpiece, he provides a manual. For our bodies, that manual is clear. In Genesis 1:29, the Creator says: "Then God said, 'I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.'"
This isn't just a suggestion; it is a design specification. It’s the "Eden Diet." It is a whole food plant based diet that focuses on what is alive, vibrant, and bursting with the energy of the sun. Would you put diesel in a Ferrari? Of course not. So why are you putting "dead" food into a living temple?
The SAD Reality: Poisoning the Palace
We have been sold a lie. The Standard American Diet: fittingly known as the SAD diet: is a cocktail of processed poisons designed to make us feel full while leaving our cells starving. It is a diet of "dead" foods: refined sugars, heavy oils, and chemically altered grains that have been stripped of their life-giving properties.
When you eat this way, you aren't just eating; you are poisoning the well. You are building your home out of trash. Rome was not built in a day, and your health won't crumble in a day either, but every bite of processed junk is another crack in the foundation. Are you fighting for your life, or are you surrendering it to the convenience of a drive-thru?
I challenge you to start seeing the difference between "healing" foods and "poisoning" foods. If it comes in a crinkly plastic bag with a list of ingredients you can’t pronounce, it’s not food: it’s a chemical experiment.

The Healing Power of Whole Food Plant-Based Living
Transitioning to a whole food plant based diet is about reclaiming your freedom. It’s about choosing "alive" over "dead." When you eat plants in their whole, natural form, you are consuming the very essence of life.
The benefits of whole food plant based diet living are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to your health. Research from places like the Cleveland Clinic shows that this way of eating can prevent, halt, and even reverse chronic diseases that we’ve been told are "just part of getting older."
- Heart Health: You are clearing the pipes of your temple, allowing the life-blood to flow freely.
- Energy and Vitality: You aren't just "getting through the day"; you are conquering it.
- Weight Management: Your body finds its natural balance when you stop clogging it with refined starches and oils.
- Mental Clarity: No more brain fog. Your mind becomes a sharp tool, ready for the work you were meant to do.
Why Gluten-Free? Healing the Gut
You might be asking, "Charlet, why is it whole food plant based gluten free?"
Many of us are walking around with "leaky" temples. Our gut health is the gateway to our overall wellness, and for many, gluten acts like sandpaper on the delicate lining of the intestines. In our modern world, wheat has been so hybridized and processed that it’s a far cry from the ancient grains of the Bible.
By choosing whole food plant based gluten free options, you are giving your digestive system a chance to breathe. You are removing the friction and allowing your body to finally start the repairs it has been trying to do for years.

The Garden in Your Kitchen
I know what you’re thinking: "But what do I actually eat?" You eat the garden! You eat the seeds, the fruits, the vibrant greens, and the hearty tubers.

Your Grocery List Blueprint:
- Seeds & Grains: Quinoa, buckwheat, millet, and brown rice. (These are the "seed-bearing plants"!)
- Legumes: Lentils, chickpeas, and black beans. The building blocks of protein.
- Fruits: Every color of the rainbow. Think of them as the jewels of your palace.
- Vegetables: Leafy greens, cruciferous veggies, and root vegetables. These are your medicine.
- Nuts & Seeds: Walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds for those healthy fats your brain craves.

Stewardship: Do No Harm
Living the Genesis 1:29 way isn't just about you. It’s about a sense of fairness and dignity for all of creation. Our core belief at Charlet Goes Vegan is to "Do no harm in all areas of our lives."
When you choose a plant-based lifestyle, you are protecting the environment and showing compassion to animals. You are reducing your footprint and honoring the planet God gave us to steward. You can even take it a step further by embracing a zero-waste lifestyle. I’ve talked before about why you should ditch single-use plastic bottles: it’s all part of the same mission to keep our world as clean as we keep our bodies.

Your Invitation to Thrive
I am living proof of the power of this lifestyle. I went from being paralyzed, trapped in a body that wouldn't work, to thriving and raising my family with these values. I didn't get here by making an extreme makeover overnight. I got here by making gentle, realistic habit changes.
I challenge you today: start with one meal. Switch one "dead" food for something "alive." Would you drink acid? No. So stop drinking the sugary sodas that are eating away at your health. Would you build a home out of trash? No. So stop filling your pantry with processed junk.

Your life is a gift. Your body is a temple. It’s time you started treating them that way. If you’re ready to dive deeper, check out this beginner's guide to WFPB and join me on this journey. Let’s go back to the Garden together. Let’s eat for life.
